The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is pleased to announce details for the 2010-11 CCM Mainstage Series of drama, musical theatre and opera productions.

The 2010-2011 Mainstage Series will sweep you away – from Argentina to small town America, from riotous farce to the deepest of human emotions and across a landscape of truly great works in musical theatre, drama and opera. Each title will be brought to life by the brightest and freshest young talent in Cincinnati – our CCM students. Here is a first look at what next season has to offer:

Evita

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s intoxicating score and Tim Rice’s brilliant lyrics make every moment of Eva Perón’s rise to become the world’s first political celebrity a triumph of theatrical imagination.

The breakthrough musical of the 1990’s and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Jonathan Larson’s re-setting of La bohème to the loves, conflicts and struggles of young New York fringe artists is “filled with heart, with almost every musical number providing a rich emotional high,” according to the Toronto Star. Note: Due to its adult themes, this production is intended for mature audiences.

Our Town

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, this timeless drama of life in the New England town of Grover’s Corners is an American classic that appeals to audiences worldwide – capturing the very essence and universal experience of being alive.

The Marriage of Figaro
Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Audiences have been laughing out loud at Mozart’s tangled web of lechery, jealousy, vanity, suspicion, deceit and class conflict for over 200 years. Hailed as “the perfect opera,” Mozart’s beautifully crafted music flawlessly supports the opera’s multitude of comic delights. Sung in Italian with English supertitles.

Dialogues of the Carmelites
Composed by Francis Poulenc
Libretto by Emmet Lavery
Mark Gibson, conductor
Steven Goldstein, director

Francis Poulenc’s intensely psychological drama follows the life of Blanche de la Force, a high-strung, aristocratic young woman who seeks refuge in a Carmelite nunnery during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. The lyrical music ranges from almost cinematic scoring to the medieval sounds of songs as the Carmelite Sisters face martyrdom. Sung in English with supertitles.

Subscriptions and Single Tickets
The 2010-11 CCM Mainstage Series of drama, musical theatre and opera productions includes subscription packages for six-show, four-show and three-show combinations. Matinee subscriptions are $144.00 for a full six-show package, $100.00 for a four-show package or $78.00 for a three-show package. Evening subscriptions are $156 for a six-show package, $108.00 for a four-show package or $84.00 for a three-show package. 

Subscription renewal information will be sent to current subscribers in May 2010, and new subscriptions become available in late summer 2010.

Single tickets for Mainstage drama, opera and musical theatre events go on sale October 11, 2010, with adult tickets at $29, and for students, $19. Preview tickets for the productions of The Matchmaker and Our Town are available for $11. Preview tickets for Evita are available for $22. A special student rush rate is available for select performances, and group discounts are also available—please inquire at the CCM Box Office for details.

Flex Concert Tickets Are Back
Subscribers are also able to purchase flexible ticket packages to CCM’s 2010-11 Mainstage Series of concerts, which will include wind, orchestral, jazz, dance, choral and guest artist events, among others. Available exclusively to subscribers, Concert Flex Ticket Packages offer the chance to experience the incredible range of additional performing arts events at CCM at 50% off regular concert ticket prices. Programming and ticket package details for the CCM Mainstage Series of concerts will be announced late summer and single ticket sales will begin September 27, 2010. 

Performances will be held in Patricia Corbett Theater and Corbett Auditorium on the UC campus.
