Greek Week 2011 at the University of Cincinnati raised a record $53,404 to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, exceeding fundraising goals by more than $11,400 to benefit seven local children.

The news was announced at the Greek Week Excellence Awards Celebration, which was held Tuesday evening in TUC’s Great Hall.

The top sorority and fraternity fundraisers for the show-tune-themed Greek Week were Chi Omega Sorority and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. The overall winners for UC Greek Week 2011 were Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

Hoxworth Blood Center University of Cincinnati reports that the Greek Week Order of Omega Blood Drive on April 11 resulted in the registration of 89 donors and a collection of 82 products. Since each unit collected can save up to three lives, Hoxworth reports that the Greek Week Order of Omega Blood Drive helped save 246 lives.

The video above features highlights from the Greek Week Belly Flop competition on April 15. Alpha Tau Omega took first place in the fraternity category and Chi Omega placed first in the sorority category. Other contest winners can be viewed from the document below.

Greek Week also drew a spectacular turnout. Events such as the Step-Off Competition and the Lip Sync Competition packed TUC’s Great Hall.

Russell Best, UC program coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Life, says since spring of last year, UC’s Greek organizations have contributed about 38,000 hours of community service and have raised more than $100,000 to benefit their philanthropies.
