Boston Globe: Professor Unsure of Campaign Ad Blitz

Patrick Miller offered his take on the advertising strategies of the presidential political campaigns in a recent story in The Boston Globe.

The report analyzed spending on attack ads by President Barack Obama’s and Republican challenger Mitt Romney’s campaigns as well as additional advertising being purchased by outside groups. In an important swing state such as Ohio, voters have already seen months of negative-leaning campaign ads. But the Globe reports that Miller says it’s hard to judge the effectiveness of such methods: “This is a lot of messaging and a lot of hot air being blown, and the campaigns aren’t going to see a whole lot of payoff here.”
