UC, XU  Join Hands for BRIDGES Walk on Oct. 27 and UC-XU Day at the Freedom Center on Nov. 10

The UC Bearcats and the Xavier Musketeers men's basketball teams will meet for the 66th consecutive year for the Skyline Chili Crosstown Classic, on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at U.S. Bank Arena. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.

Leading up to the game, UC and XU are collaborating on events in conjunction with the Freedom Center:

  • A UC-XU team of student will walk together in the BRIDGES for a Just Community Walk on Saturday, Oct. 27. UC's student team is led by Lane Hart and interested students can sign up through the Student Government registration site: http://uc.edu/sg/bridges
  • UC-XU Day at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CDC issues new guidelines to help manage potential IUD pain

Some women have taken to social media with their experiences of pain when having an intrauterine device, or IUD, inserted. Now the Centers for Disease Control issued guidelines to urge health care providers to address the problem. Priya Gursahaney, MD, associate professor in the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, recently appeared on Cincinnati Edition on WVXU to discuss the role that IUDs play in reproductive health care.

$300K grant awarded to study airborne MRSA in health care...

University of Cincinnati researchers are working to minimize health care workers' exposure to infectious diseases. An Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation grant will fund a study on the presence of MRSA in the air in hospital settings.
