Fifth Annual Clermont Business Plan Competition Free and Open to Community

The Ohio Small Business Development Center at the Clermont Chamber of Commerce and UC Clermont College are pleased to announce the fifth annual Business Plan Competition. This competition is designed to stimulate entrepreneurial activity and increase awareness of resources available to grow entrepreneurs in Clermont County.
 
UC Clermont College will be offering four two-hour business planning classes beginning Monday, July 28, and continuing on consecutive Monday nights through Monday, Aug. 18. Each session will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on the campus located at 4200 Clermont College Drive in Batavia in McDonough Hall Room 210.
 
Interested entrepreneurs may register by emailing professor Andrew Hughes at hughesaw@uc.edu. Each session will feature a different topic, attendance at all four sessions is suggested. Contestants are required to attend at least one of the sessions to qualify. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to register and attend to fit their needs and schedules.
 
Session Specifics:

  • Monday, July 28 – Overview of the Competition/Financial Tips & Tools
  • Monday, August 4 – Business Rules & Laws of Running a Business
  • Monday, August 11 – Marketing and Management aspects of a Business Plan
  • Monday, August 18 – Business Startup Best Practices & Business Plan Tips/Tricks

Competitors must submit a complete business plan of no more than 30 pages for a company that operates or will operate in Clermont County. It can be for a new business, early stage company, or a proposed expansion or recovery of an existing business. Winners must use their winnings in the business itself. The best business plans will win the following award amounts:

  • First Place wins $3,000
  • Second Place wins $1,000
  • Third Place wins $500

All competitors are required to attend at least one of the FREE business planning classes offered by UC Clermont College in conjunction with the Ohio Small Business Development Center and our sponsors.
 
Students are encouraged to participate.
