Faculty Roundtable to Explore the Politics of Ebola

A panel of six University of Cincinnati faculty members will discuss the Ebola virus crisis from a non-medical perspective at a roundtable discussion Wednesday, Nov. 5, at noon in Tangeman University Center (TUC) 425.

The following faculty members will participate in the discussion:

•    John Flournoy (Journalism)- Media coverage of Ebola in Dallas vs. nationally

•    Rebecca Sanders (Political Science) Threat inflation and lack of rational risk analysis in media coverage

•    Andrew Lewis (Political Science) Ebola and presidential politics

•    Guy Whembolua  (Africana Studies) Conspiracy theories in African societies

•    Shaunak Sastry (Communication) Critical-cultural communication perspective to the coverage of Ebola

•    Zhuo Ban (Communication) Communication and attributions in a crisis situation

“It’s great to provide perspectives on this crisis from across our college,” says Interim Dean Kristi Nelson. “The breadth of our faculty expertise allows us to examine Ebola from a global view.”

The event is free and open to the public.
