Seeking Nominations for the Featured UC Faculty 'Life of the Mind' Presenter
The vision of
Life of the Mind
is to celebrate University of Cincinnati faculty research, scholarship and creative output and to foster the free and open exchange of ideas and discourse.
Life of the Mind
was started in spring 2011 as an annual lecture series featuring interdisciplinary conversations with UC faculty around a one-word theme. Beginning in 2014/15, this series of lectures and conversations will undergo the following changes:
- Reduce the total number of lectures from four to two a year one in the fall and one in the spring. The next Life of the Mind will be held Thursday, March 26, 4-5:30pm in the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center.
- Each Life of the Mind lecture will feature one UC faculty member presenting his or her work and expertise in concert with the prescribed theme. The presentation will not simply be a recitation of the presenters work but will promote a point of view.
- A panel of three will respond to and discuss the lecture from diverse perspectives, and a moderator will encourage audience engagement.
The Life of the Mind Steering Committee is seeking nominations for the featured UC faculty presenter. The chosen featured UC faculty presenter should be an expert in their respective field with a proven record of scholarship or creation of works, as well as be an engaging speaker able to address an audience with broad interests.
Criteria for the Featured UC Faculty Presenter:
- Accomplished UC faculty member with national/international reputation.
- Proven record of scholarship or creative works.
- Recognized as an expert in their field of study, research or creation of works.
- Experienced at presenting their work to an audience outside the classroom.
- Excellent and engaging speaker able to relate to a non-specialist audience.
- Provocative topic of study/research/creative work.
