College of Nursing's Dean Glazer Elected Again to AACN Board
Greer Glazer, PhD, dean of the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, has been elected to a second-two-year term on the board of directors of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).
Glazer has served as dean of the College of Nursing since January 2012. Before coming to Cincinnati, she served as dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. She also served as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Executive Fellow. Glazer recently served as principal investigator for a groundbreaking national study on Holistic Admissions in the Health Professions, which was commissioned by Urban Universities for Health.
"Having a voice in the national discussion related to nursing and nursing education allows us to more effectively advocate for our nursing students and local health care populations. It also allows us to provide leadership in the overall direction of the nursing profession and healthcare which ultimately impacts the care people receive right here in Cincinnati," Glazer said.
With the AACN, Glazer has served as chair of the Executive Development Series Program Committee, a member of the Government Affairs Committee, mentor with the New Dean Mentoring Program and Board liaison to the current Futures Task Force.
The AACN is a national voice for baccalaureate and graduate programs in nursing and represents more than 700 member schools of nursing at public and private institutions nationwide. Glazer was chosen for this top leadership position by member deans and directors from the nation's schools of nursing with baccalaureate and higher degree programs.
The AACN sets quality standards for bachelor's and graduate degree nursing education, assists deans and directors to implement those standards, influences the nursing profession to improve health care and promotes public support of baccalaureate and graduate nursing education, research and practice.
