UC President Santa J. Ono's State of the University Address: People-Focused Transformation Under Way
UC President Santa Ono outlined the ways in which Creating Our Third Century is investing in faculty, staff and students during his State of the University Address on April 23.
Just as the university envisioned and accomplished a physical transformation 25 years ago and a financial transformation over the last 10 years, it will undergo a people-focused transformation defined by the principle that people are UC's greatest asset.
Focusing on individual stories, President Ono also highlighted students, faculty and staff who are making UC so unique, innovative and great.

Using environmental DNA analysis, researchers identified a collection of plants used in ceremonial rituals in the ancient Maya city of Yaxnohcah. The plants, known for their religious associations and medicinal properties, were discovered beneath a plaza floor upon which a ballcourt was built, suggesting the building might have been blessed or consecrated during construction.
