DAAP Galleries Fall Exhibitions Bring Together the Creative Minds of Cincinnati Artist Educators
The DAAP Galleries open their fall season featuring work from some of the Cincinnati areas leading artist educators. In the
Dorothy W. and C. Lawson Reed, Jr. Gallery
, DAAP School of Art faculty will showcase their work in an exhibition titled Variable Proportions, and at the
former Art Academy of Cincinnati faculty member and Cincinnati Art Museum Board Member Stewart Goldman will exhibit new paintings in NUANCES.
Variable Proportions, running through Oct.4, takes inspiration from the law of input disproportional to output. Pulling from the wealth of backgrounds, knowledge and globally recognized expertise in DAAPs School of Art that includes painting, ceramics, printmaking, textile arts, video and sculpture, this group of artists seeks to answer questions about production associated with art and the relationship of input and output within the language of their media.
NUANCES captures the transition of Goldmans work from figurative to abstract, reminiscent of the ideological shift of painters throughout the history of art. Goldmans work refines landscapes into distilled lines of color and form, capturing space and dimension within the creases of paint and canvas. NUANCES puts forth Goldmans minimalist vision in fragmented landscapes that emerge in fissures of isolated color from figurative realism. The exhibition opens Sept.13 and runs through Oct. 25.
The artist reception for NUANCES is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, in the Meyers Gallery in UCs Steger Student Life Center. The Variable Proportions artist reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Dorothy W. & C. Lawson Reed Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts at DAAP.
