Biomedical engineering student contributes to cancer research

University of Cincinnati PhD student Maulee Sheth has been named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science. A biomedical engineering student, she works in the Esfandiari lab on cancer tumor microenvironment research to better understand the disease. Through her time here, she has collaborated with researchers at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the UC College of Medicine.

UC welcomes 10 new engineering faculty this fall

The University of Cincinnati welcomed ten new faculty members in the College of Engineering and Applied Science in mechanical engineering, industrial & systems engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, and engineering education.

CCM Philharmonia, choirs and alumni guest artists in concert on Sept. 21

UC College-Conservatory of Music's Philharmonia and combined choirs unite with alumni guest artists Amanda Woodbury and Kayleigh Decker to perform an epic season-opening concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. Presented in CCM's Corbett Auditorium, tickets for the concert are on sale now through the Box Office.

Cognitive decline reduced by MIND diet, study finds

September 19, 2024

National outlets including CNN, Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report highlighted research led by the University of Cincinnati's Russell Sawyer that found following the MIND diet for 10 years produced a small but significant decrease in the risk of developing thinking, concentration and memory problems.

CDC issues new guidelines to help manage potential IUD pain

Some women have taken to social media with their experiences of pain when having an intrauterine device, or IUD, inserted. Now the Centers for Disease Control issued guidelines to urge health care providers to address the problem. Priya Gursahaney, MD, associate professor in the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, recently appeared on Cincinnati Edition on WVXU to discuss the role that IUDs play in reproductive health care.

CCM ranks in top 10 most represented colleges on Broadway

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music has once again been named as one of Playbill’s “Big 10.” Ranked as one of the top star-producing institutions in the nation, CCM was represented by at least 24 alumni performing on Broadway stages during the 2023-24 season according to Playbill's coverage.

Vacant downtown office building to be converted into hotel

A vacant office building in downtown Cincinnati will be converted into a 280-room hotel, creating hundreds of construction jobs and permanent jobs, WCPO reported. Carl Goertemoeller, executive director for the University of Cincinnati Real Estate Center, at the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, said the project really boils down to job creation.
