Interested in Quitting or Reducing Tobacco Use?
Whether you are a student,
faculty or staff, there are tobacco cessation resources available to you. With tobacco use being the number one cause
of preventable death and disease here in the United States, Tobacco Free UC is
here to support your decision to quit or reduce your use (CDC,
2017). All of the resources
mentioned below are available at www.uc.edu/tobaccofree.
Available to all UC faculty, staff and
students:
- QuitLogix A quit line service utilizing 5 sessions of telephonic health coaching with nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and/or online resources. Call 855-372-0046 or visit univcincinnati.quitlogix.org to get started.
- Freshstart® sessions Designed by the American
Cancer Society to help participants plan a successful quit attempt.
Students are offered three sessions with the Student Wellness Center. A date, time and location that is convenient for them can be requested using CampusLink.
Faculty and staff can RSVP for group sessions with HR EDGE or email tobaccofree@uc.edu if interested in one-on-one sessions. The next group offering starts at 8 a.m. Feb. 6 at UC Clermont in Snyder Hall room 143.
Faculty and Staff Specific Resources:
- Impact Solutions UCs Employee Assistance Program provides an online Quit Center to develop a personal quit plan and/or 5 free telephonic sessions with a Quit Specialist. Call 1-800-227-6007 or visit the UC Impact Solutions website to get started.
- Anthem Medical Plan If you are enrolled in this health plan, there is the 24/7 Nurse Line, Healthy Lifestyles Online program, and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) available. Call the 24/7 Nurse Line at 888-249-3820. Log into your Anthem account to access the Healthy Lifestyles program for tools and resources to help with behavior change. - Be Well UC UCs employee wellness program offers points and incentives for completing a Tobacco Affidavit, tobacco cessation Wellness Workshop, and/or attending tobacco cessation sessions. All who are actively employed and enrolled in the UC Anthem medical plan are eligible for incentives. Learn more about the 2018 Incentives. Student Specific Resources:
- Student Wellness Center A UC office that provides health education programming and resources, as well as cessation classes. Reach out to Sarah Blanton, the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Coordinator, at sarah.blanton@uc.edu or 513-556-6124 for additional information, referrals, and resources.
- University Health Services (UHS) An on campus health care office for registered students. Students interested in Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) can learn more from the UHS Pharmacy by calling 513-558-7333 or visiting their website.
- Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) A UC office that provides counseling services, information and support for students. Call 513-556-0648 for more details.
