Alex Knapp
Alex Knapp is a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, with a minor in Computer Science, in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. He has conducted research at UC’s Biomedical Acoustics Lab and at Cincinnati Children’s Artificial Intelligence Imaging Research (CAIIR) Center. At the CAIIR center, his research focuses on applications of machine learning to medical imaging, particularly in developing algorithms for pediatrics. Alex has been supported in 2024 and 2026 through the Mantei-Mae Award and was recently named a 2026 Goldwater Scholar.
Outside of academics, he actively participates in intramural sports, playing basketball, soccer, volleyball, and flag football. After graduation, Alex plans to pursue a Ph.D. in machine learning to support early detection and diagnosis of consequential pathologies in medical imaging.
