The Student Wellness Center schedules and facilitates the sanction classes.

Classes Offered

Alcohol Skills Education Program (ASEP) is a 1.5-hour class that includes the following topics: expectations around alcohol, perception versus reality of usage on campus, standard drink of alcohol, factors that influence absorption, tolerance, lower-risk strategies, bystander intervention, health and impairment consequences, and self-reflection of usage. This training is based on the Alcohol Skills Training Program (ASTP), which is an evidence-based curriculum.

Drug Skills Education Program (DSEP) is a 1.5-hour class that includes the following topics: expectations around cannabis use, perception versus reality of usage on campus, tolerance, lower-risk strategies, bystander intervention, health and impairment consequences, and self-reflection of usage. 

Prime for Life Alcohol is a 4 hour class that includes the following topics: attitudes and beliefs about alcohol, perceptions versus reality of alcohol usage on campus and nationally, health and impairment consequences, biological aspects of addiction, the role of choices in addiction, reducing risk for alcohol use, and a self-assessment of alcohol use. Prime for Life is a nationally recognized, evidence-based curriculum.

Prime for Life Drug is a 4 hour class that includes the following topics: attitudes and beliefs about drugs, perceptions versus reality of drug usage on campus and nationally, health and impairment consequences, biological aspects of addiction, the role of choices in addiction, reducing risk for drug use, and a self-assessment of drug use. Prime for Life is a nationally recognized, evidence-based curriculum.

Policies

Deadline Policy

  • Registration for ASEP classes will close at 3pm the day before the class. Registration for ASEP classes that are held on Mondays will close at 3pm the Friday before the class.
  • Registration for DSEP classes will close at 3pm the day before the class. Registration for DSEP classes that are held on Mondays will close at 3pm the Friday before the class.
  • Registration for Prime for Life classes will close at 3pm the Thursday before the class.

Attendance Policy

  • If students do not attend the class they registered and paid for and do not contact the Student Wellness Center (wellness.center@uc.edu) prior to the start of the class, the student will be required to submit payment for another course.
  • If students arrive late to the class, their attendance will not be counted and they will be required to submit another payment for a class.

Registration Policy

  • Students are able to register for classes until the registration deadline or until the class is full. Once a class is full, it will be removed from the registration website.

Refund Policy

  • Any refunds for alcohol/drug sanction classes through the Student Wellness Center must be issued within the academic year that the payment was made.
