Law School symposium examines life, service of renowned Judge Nathaniel Jones
In recognition of Judge Nathanial Jones and his remarkable service to the United States and its citizens, the University of Cincinnati Law Review will host the symposium Answering the Call: The Social Justice Life of the Honorable Nathaniel Raphael Jones. The event will be held Thurs., Nov. 5 at 12:15 p.m. via WebEx. CLE: Application pending for 1.0 CLE in OH and KY.
About the symposium
The symposium will examine Judge Jones’ life and service to our country, including his service as the United States attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, his pioneering work as the NAACP legal counsel and his remarkable service as a federal judge on the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. His tremendous contributions influenced attorneys not only in the United States but also across the world.
Answering the Call will feature the well-known legal scholars and practitioners:
- Dennis Parker, CEO of the National Center for Law and Economic Justice;
- Elise Boddie, Henry Rutgers Professor, Robert L. Carter Scholar, Rutgers Law School;
- Erika Wilson, Associate Professor of Law, Wade Edwards Distinguished Scholar, Thomas Willis Lambeth Distinguished Chair in Public Policy, and Director of Clinical Programs, University of North Carolina School of Law; and
- Renee Hutchins, Dean and Professor of Law, University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law.
All the speakers will address a range of topics representative of the significant breadth and scope of Judge Jones’ work and achievements. The speakers will also address diversity on the federal courts as well as the current state of the judicial appointments process.
