WLWT News 5: Black male employees at UC host summit to discuss higher education

Event's theme: "Lead. Learn. Love."

The UC African American/Black Male Staff Employee Resource Group hosted the 2nd annual UC Black Male Summit Saturday, April 8, at the African-American Cultural and Resource Center (AACRC)

Organizers said the vision of the University of Cincinnati Black Male Summit was "to provide aid in bridging identifiable gaps relating to social opportunities, innovations, and professional networking for Black male students, staff, and faculty."

William Harris, a 1989 UC alum and guidance counselor at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, provided the keynote address. Harris is also a former administrator at UC who played a role in the foundation of the AACRC.

The event’s theme urged Black men to live up to their true purpose: To Lead, to Learn and to Love.  Workshops tackled diverse topics such as entrepreneurship/career development, health and wellness, mindy, body and spirit, and finding solutions for promoting Black male achievement and success.

Local media, WLWT-TV, Spectrum News and The News Record covered the event.
