The department's Digital Awareness Series sets aside time and space to explore cutting-edge emerging technologies with thought leaders at the university and in our community.

The first event in the series was well attended and centered around generative AI and ChatGPT. This event gave students, faculty and staff the opportunity to network with local experts around generative AI.

First up was an AI overview and demonstration by Jon Adams and Shiv Bharti from Microsoft Corp. and a panel discussion on generative AI, ChatGPT and other related topics.

The panel included Pete Blackshaw, CEO of Cincinnati-based Cintrifuse; David Seidl, chief innovation officer for Miami University; Kelly Cohen, a professor of aerospace engineering in UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science; UC doctoral student Josette Riep and Taylor Morgan, a fifth-year engineering student and UC's student body president. The panel was moderated by Digital Technology Solutions' Chief Digital Officer and Vice President Bharath Prabhakaran.

The panelists brought a variety of perspectives around a topics including the role of AI, transformation, practical considerations, employment opportunities and responsible and ethical AI.
