Hoxworth Blood Center to host community blood drives honoring local patients

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is partnering with two local schools to host community blood drives that honor the lives of local patients and highlight the critical need for blood donors in the Greater Cincinnati area.  These special events offer family, friends and neighbors a meaningful way to give back to the local community and come together to honor their loved ones, while supporting Hoxworth’s lifesaving mission.

This year's blood drive is happening from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, May 23 at Independence Elementary School in the parking lot. The school's address is 7480 Princeton Road, Liberty Township. You can schedule your donation here.

Ollie Rodriguez touched countless lives during his short but meaningful eight years. Born with a rare disease, Ollie showed incredible strength and resilience from the very beginning. His family moved to Cincinnati, so he could receive the specialized care he needed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Ollie’s treatment involved regular blood transfusions, which became a vital part of his care. Wanting to give back and help others like Ollie, his mom, Krystle, partnered with Hoxworth and Harrison Elementary School to organize blood drives.
