Thursday: Grand Opening Celebrates New 24/7 Computer and Study Space at UC

Tours and student demonstrations of the latest computer software will highlight the grand opening celebration of the new, 24/7 University of Cincinnati computer and study space for today’s 24/7 student. It all begins at 3 p.m., Thursday, March 6, at UCit@Langsam, located on the fifth floor of UC’s Langsam Library.

While UCit@Langsam is an ideal study zone for today’s modern student, traffic to the state-of-the-art facility shows that the buzz is spreading about this 21st century learning environment. UCit@Langsam has

  • 100 computers (60 Windows PCs and 40 Macintosh computers)
  • Wireless access throughout the facility
  • 24/7 lab assistance
  • Four group study rooms, two with SMART Boards, an interactive, electronic copyboard which converts white board notes to a real-time electronic file
  • A quiet study room
  • A security officer on-site when the library closes

To access UCit@Langsam after hours, students enter the facility via the fifth-floor Langsam Lobby, where they swipe their valid UC ID card at the UCit@Langsam entrance. During regular library operating hours, students get to UCit@Langsam via Langsam’s main entrance on the fourth floor and then proceed to the fifth floor.

“Until you experience it yourself, you don’t realize the magnitude of the area as well as the resources that are there,” says UC Student Body President  James Radley. “I’m sure this is going to be extremely popular with students and we’re really looking forward to the opportunities it provides them.”
