College Goal Sunday a Success

UC Clermont College hosted College Goal Sunday for the first time on Feb. 8. College Goal Sunday is a free program offered throughout the nation on the Sunday after the Super Bowl that helps students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the form that is required to apply for federal financial aid for college.

Thirty-nine future college students and their families participated and almost all submitted their FAFSA online from one of the college’s computers on College Goal Sunday. UC Clermont College hopes to make this an annual event.

“UC Clermont College hopes to make this an annual event. When it comes to financial aid, those who apply earlier have a better opportunity to get more financial aid,” said UC Clermont’s Director of Enrollment John Fisher. Others who need assistance are encouraged to contact the Southwest Ohio Educational Opportunity Center at 558-5432 or UC Clermont College at 732-5300.

Partners in this event included UC Clermont College Enrollment and Student Services, the UC Clermont TRIO programs, Clermont Educational Opportunities, high school guidance counselors and community volunteers. It helps students if the community completes their financial aid applications early, allowing them the chance to qualify for more financial aid.
