Dollhouse Encounters on Display in UC Clermont s Gallery

Julie Mitchell’s Dollhouse exhibit – Encounters - is on display in the UC Clermont College Art Gallery through April 28.

Mitchell is an associate professor of fine art and chairperson of the Art and Visual Communication Department at Raymond Walters College.

"I develop the compositions from preliminary photo studies of dolls in dollhouses. As the paintings evolve, I add complexity and depth to the compositional structure by developing rich surfaces with color and texture,” said Mitchell.

Mitchell’s images tell a story that “capture one moment from a dramatic narrative. Conveying ambiguous relationships or unsettled psychological states, it depicts figures interacting in domestic interiors,” said Mitchell.

Mitchell earned a master of fine art in painting from East Carolina University..
