The Advisory Committee on Public Safety (ACOPS) holds an open meeting (General Assembly) each term. The next ACOPS General Assembly meeting is set for
9 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 6
, in Room 427, Tangeman University Center (TUC). All are invited to attend in order to discuss safety issues or to learn about the committee.
ACOPS is comprised of representatives from the undergraduate and graduate student body, faculty, and staff, and meets twice per semester with an open meeting once during the semester.

Ancient Maya blessed their ballcourts

Using environmental DNA analysis, researchers identified a collection of plants used in ceremonial rituals in the ancient Maya city of Yaxnohcah. The plants, known for their religious associations and medicinal properties, were discovered beneath a plaza floor upon which a ballcourt was built, suggesting the building might have been blessed or consecrated during construction.
