University of Cincinnati Observances Pay Tribute to Martin Luther King

The University of Cincinnati pays tribute to the memory of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the program, “UNMASKED: The Collective Work of the Movement,” beginning at

noon, Wednesday, Jan. 16, in the MainStreet Cinema of Tangeman University Center (TUC).

The event is free and open to the public.

The program will celebrate King’s legacy as well as reveal unsung heroes in other civil rights and freedom movements throughout history.

The keynote speaker is Robin Martin, UC associate provost for diversity and inclusion. Martin was appointed to the position last October to develop strategies to recruit and retain underrepresented undergraduate and graduate students and faculty, as well as promote awareness and discussions of diversity on campus. Martin previously was Bearcats Executive Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator and joined the UC administration in 2007.

Martin’s address at the observance is titled, “Where the White Gleam of Our Bright Star is Cast.”

The program is sponsored by the African American Cultural and Resource Center (AACRC), Ethnic Programs and Services, UC Women’s Center, Resident Education and Development, UC LGBTQ Center and the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) Student Service Center.
