Cycle 91: Five Finalists Vying for This Year s Coveted C-Ring
The University of Cincinnati Women's Center has identified five finalists, representing four University of Cincinnati colleges, for the annual C-Ring Award.
The C-Ring award, first given in 1922, recognizes an outstanding graduating senior woman. Eligible women must have a 3.4 GPA, be community or university leaders and demonstrate advocacy for women or girls. The 2013 C-Ring Award recipient will be announced at the annual banquet on April 13, where all finalists will be recognized. Deborah Merchant, interim Vice President of Student Affairs and Services, will give the welcome at the event.
The 2013 finalists hail from UC's colleges of Allied Health Sciences, Arts & Sciences, Business and Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services. Finalists selected by the C-Ring committee for 2013 include:

Using environmental DNA analysis, researchers identified a collection of plants used in ceremonial rituals in the ancient Maya city of Yaxnohcah. The plants, known for their religious associations and medicinal properties, were discovered beneath a plaza floor upon which a ballcourt was built, suggesting the building might have been blessed or consecrated during construction.
