International Design Theorist to Discuss Future of Cities
Author on the topic of sustainable urban design and award-winning designer Tony Fry, professor of design at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, will participate in public lectures on the University of Cincinnati campus starting Oct. 24.
These events include
- Lecture titled Design Now/Design Then at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, Room 4400 (main auditorium) in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). The lecture will be followed by a reception, also in DAAP. This event is free and open to the public.
- Metrofitting: Planning for Climate Change lecture by Fry, followed by discussion with panelists from UC, Mill Creek Watershed Council of Communities, City of Cincinnati Office of Environmental Quality and Duke Energy. Networking reception at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, (lecture at 6 p.m. and panel discussion at 7 p.m.) at UCs CARE Crawley Building, 231 Albert Sabin Way. Admission costs for this U.S. Green Building Council-sponsored event vary: $10 for students, $20 for USCGC members and $25 for non members. Registration is required and can be made via USGBC online.
- Fry will also participate in a UC co-sponsored symposium, Future Cities: Livable Futures, from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Contemporary Arts Center auditorium, 44 E. Sixth St., downtown. The event is free, but online registration is required. (Currently, only 33 tickets remain.)
