UC Clermont College and the College Success Program Launch the "Women-to-Women" Leadership and Mentoring Program
UC Clermont College is launching a leadership and mentoring program for women focusing on developing leadership skills and providing academic support. This program sponsored by the UC Clermont College Success Program links women students at UC Clermont with mentors on both the Clermont and Uptown campuses, creating a community of women and a flexible support system.
Program details
This is a program targeted toward women students who would like a greater network of support to help them move through their academic careers here at UC Clermont or to aid in transition to a further academic program. It offers information, individual support and the development of skills that will help students make the best use of their education, such as communication skills, assertiveness, and leadership skills.
This project, facilitated by a group of UC Clermont College faculty, staff and students, will run through spring semester 2015. Mentees will be paired with mentors, and together they will create their own flexible agenda. Students can choose to pair with a UC Clermont student mentor, a mentor from UC Uptown campus who has made a transition from Clermont College (and in the same or similar discipline), or a faculty mentor. There will be a few meetings of the entire group of participants, where group discussions and inspiring guest speakers can occur, along with mentor/mentee training and community building. One final meeting near the end of the spring semester will finish the formal project.
Both mentors and mentees
gain valuable communication skills
gain valuable assertiveness and leadership skills
develop new close relationships with other students and faculty
experience an enhanced sense of community
Mentees will also
gain new sources of information, support and encouragement
set academic goals

Mentors will also
