Anthony Muñoz to Give Students Pep Talk on Healthy Lifestyles

NFL Hall of Famer Anthony Muñoz will share his personal experiences on how to make decisions and choices for a healthy lifestyle with University of Cincinnati (UC) students as part of the university’s Just Community initiative.

The event, free and open to the public, will be on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from noon to 1 p.m. in the College of Medicine’s Kresge Auditorium, 231 Albert Sabin Way.

Just Community is a campus-wide initiative to promote cohesiveness, appreciation for diversity and a sense of pride among students, faculty and university employees. Its goal is to make UC a more caring environment by incorporating certain principles into daily campus activity, such as celebrating the uniqueness of each individual, practicing civility, embracing freedom and openness, seeking integrity, promoting justice and accepting responsibility.

“Our goal is to raise awareness of the impact that one person can make on the community and the lives of others by the choices that we make,” said Steve Manuel, assistant dean in the UC College of Medicine. “It’s important that our students adopt positive health patterns early, so they can succeed in their careers and at home. Anthony Muñoz is the perfect person to exemplify that healthy pattern and attitude.”

Considered one of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history, the former Cincinnati Bengal’s diligent workout routine and commitment to fitness paved the way for a remarkable NFL career, despite battling multiple and career-threatening injuries. Off the field, his Anthony Muñoz Foundation has raised more than $1 million to support local charities and to help the area’s youth by providing mental, physical and spiritual guidance.
