ERC Workshop to Address Health and Safety of the Temporary Workforce
On April 7, the Education and Research Center (ERC) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) will host a day-long topical workshop titled "Health and Safety of Temporary Workers. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the College of Nursing (Procter Hall) and is free and open to the public.
In three moderated sessions, the workshop will feature speakers from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Cincinnati Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the International Chemical Workers Union Council, as well as researchers presenting on ways to improve worker health and safety.
"This topical workshop aims to provide an overview on the current health and safety of temporary workers and will address the recent development and challenges in this field, says Tiina Reponen, PhD, professor and director of UCs ERC.
The program is designed for occupational health and safety professionals, ERC students and faculty. Advocates for temporary workers or any other professionals who work with the temporary workforce are also welcome to attend.
The workshop offers continuing education for American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and Nursing CEU contact hours. Online registration is open until April 1.
The UC ERC serves regional and national needs in occupational safety and health through interdisciplinary academic education, research training and a wide range of continuing education courses are available for practicing professionals. In partnership with ERCs at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of Michigan, the program will be offered as a webinar broadcast onsite at these partner institutions.
The workshop is supported by NIOSH and by the student chapters of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and American Society of Safety Engineers.
