This UC robot doesn't need to knock

Students in UC’s Intelligent Robotics and Autonomous Systems Laboratory are building an autonomous robot that not only can open its own doors but also can find the nearest electric wall outlet to recharge without human assistance. Their virtual robot was successful in simulations.

Sky’s not the limit in student innovation challenge

Cincinnati Innovation District, University of Cincinnati's 1819 Innovation Hub host the second FlyOhio Vertiport Innovation Challenge, inviting students from institutions across the state of Ohio. Thirteen teams from six colleges presented concepts for Advanced Air Mobility vertiports focusing on how medical or cargo transport would benefit the community, sustain itself and create more than 15,000 new jobs and convert existing jobs.

Medscape: Is collecting long-term cancer follow-up data worth it?

Tammy Holm, MD, Phd, assistant professor of clinical surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine was interviewed for a story in Medscape on whether or not it's worth the effort to follow cancer patients over many years to catch tumors that recur, improve outcomes, even reveal important trends. Those long-term cancer follow-ups require extensive human resources and will inevitably decrease over time.

What is Neuroscience?

Have you ever thought about thinking? Or have you been interested in how the brain works and makes us function? What about how the brain makes us behave? If you have, the neuroscience program at UC’s College of Arts & Sciences may be the right major for you. Neuroscience, by definition, is the study of the nervous system. While it is based on the nervous system, neuroscience includes many disciplines like physiology, anatomy, molecular biology, computer science and mathematical modeling. UC is one of the few schools in Ohio that offers a comprehensive major in neuroscience, and many students go on to careers in medicine, pharmaceutical or biotech research, or clinical psychology, to name a few. The neuroscience program in A&S has three focus areas: Brain, Mind & Behavior (thinking about thinking); Neurobiology (how the brain works); and Neuropsychology (how the brain makes us behave). Each focus area is a four-year program that confers a bachelor’s of science degree.
