UC College-Conservatory of Music hosts jazz harpist Park Stickney for a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall. Celebrated internationally for his innovative playing, Stickney is joined by CCM Professor of Saxophone James Bunte and CCM Jazz Bass student Teddy Mechley. The concert, which is Stickney’s Cincinnati debut, is free and open to the public.

University of Cincinnati Classics Professor Steven Ellis last year published the first of four historical volumes on his work as director of excavations at Pompeii’s Porta Stabia neighborhood. Now he is lending his expertise to a new exhibit on Pompeii at the Cincinnati Museum Center. “Pompeii: The Exhibition” opens at the museum on Feb. 16. It features 150 priceless artifacts from the ancient city.

UC College-Conservatory of Music presents Leos Janáček’s beloved anthropomorphic opera "The Cunning Little Vixen" Feb. 29-March 2 in Corbett Auditorium. Sung in the original Czech, the opera follows a clever fox (or “vixen”), and the Forester, a human who captured her as a cub. Weaving between the human and animal world, the opera blends comedy and tragedy, exploring the cyclical nature of life and death.
