Parking Services Offers Info on Changes for New Academic Year

The re-opening of a garage and a new process for exiting UC garages highlight information for students from UC Parking Services as fall classes set to resume.

Approximately 500 parking spaces that were out of service for most of last year are once again available with the return to service of the Clifton Court garage in the northwest section of UC’s Uptown West campus.

The garage underwent a major overhaul and modernization in recent months. It is now one of four garages that will be immediately part of a change in procedure for exiting UC garages.

Pay-in-lane automated parking systems are being phased in for cash parking across campus at all UC garages. The systems will be familiar to many motorists, as they are widely used in other garages. More information on the pay-in-lane systems can be found on the Parking Services Web site.

The four garages that are the first to convert to pay-in-lane are Clifton Court, Varsity Village, University Avenue and Campus Green.

Record enrollment for the university again means that parking will be tight at peak times this fall. Students who plan to commute to campus and have not yet made parking arrangements can visit UC’s Parking Services office in the Edwards Four entrance to the Edwards Center building on Corry Boulevard. The office is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cash parking often fills garages to capacity during the first two weeks of school, as students settle into their new routines. Students who plan to utilize this option for their parking need to be aware of this possibility, and have alternate plans to consider.
