Research Week 2015 Runs May 4-8
More than 20 events are planned for Research Week 2015, May 4-8, on the University of Cincinnati medical campus.
Presented by Assurex Health, Research Week 2015 is hosted collaboratively by UC, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Center for Clinical & Translational Science & Training, Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Cincinnati Education & Research for Veterans Foundation and UC Health.
All events are free and open to the public.
The week kicks off with an opening ceremony and block party, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, May 4, at Levine Park off Albert Sabin Way. UC President Santa Ono, PhD, will offer remarks before a presentation by General Peter Chiarelli (Ret.), CEO of One Mind. General Chiarelli will speak about brain injury, posttraumatic stress disorder and recovery. Free food and live entertainment will follow.

STEM High School Visit
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 5
Students from area science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) focused schools/programs will come to campus to learn about health-related research opportunities and careers.
Shark Tank Competition
Noon Wednesday, May 6
Medical Sciences Building Room 5051
Four ideas, four venture capitalists: Whose idea has what it takes for the $5,000 prize? Ideas to be presented and winner selected during this hour-long session.
Nobel Laureate Presentation on the Future of Health Research
4 p.m. Wednesday, May 6
Nobel Laureate and President Emeritus of Caltech, David Baltimore, PhD, will present.
Hutton Ethics Lecture
Noon Friday, May 8
Medical Sciences Building Room E-351
Tom Beauchamp, PhD, will present. Beauchamp is senior research scholar at the Kenney Institute of Ethics and co-author of the Belmont Report, which became the foundation of our legal and ethical framework for conducting research involving human subjects.
