Changes to UC's Uptown, North Shuttle Routes Coming Jan. 8

Transportation Services continuously reviews ridership and operations.  The Uptown Route ridership has been declining over the last several years, while North Route Ridership has continued to increase.  In an effort to be more effective and efficient the Uptown Route will be discontinued and service on the North route will be increased effective Jan. 8.  Service will still be available to the Uptown areas by NightRide by calling 556-RIDE or by visiting their website at

There will still be two full time North Shuttles running the hours of 6 a.m.-10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the North Route “chaser” hours will be increased to run Monday through Friday, 11 a.m-9 p.m. Please visit the Transportation website at

Ancient Maya blessed their ballcourts

Using environmental DNA analysis, researchers identified a collection of plants used in ceremonial rituals in the ancient Maya city of Yaxnohcah. The plants, known for their religious associations and medicinal properties, were discovered beneath a plaza floor upon which a ballcourt was built, suggesting the building might have been blessed or consecrated during construction.
