Frequently Asked Questions (2026-27 Academic Year)
University Housing is entering an agreement to lease between 300-350 of the apartments from The Verge (165 W. McMillan St.) for the 2026-27 academic cycle. This page is meant to address questions we're seeing about what this transition will mean for students who have already signed individual leases with the property.

I Signed a Lease with The Verge for 2026-27
Students on a direct lease with The Verge don't need to do anything.
We have come to an agreement with The Verge that all students who have already contracted directly with The Verge for the 2026-27 year will stay on direct leases and do not need to transfer their leases to University Housing.
Students who wish to participate in the University Housing program may do so via the Upperclass Housing process. Because University Housing has negotiated to allow all Verge leaseholders to stay on their direct leases, we are no longer offering for Verge leaseholders to transfer their agreements to UC Housing.
We have received many questions under this umbrella. Questions include:
- Will I have a Resident Advisor (RA)?
- No. Students who lease directly with The Verge will not have a Resident Advisor.
- While there may be a Resident Advisor nearby, the RA will be a resource available to students who lease with University Housing.
- Will The Verge be a dry hall?
- Refer to your lease directly with The Verge for your specific guidelines.
- Housing's Rules and Regulations, including those related to alcohol, will not apply to you.
- Will University rules apply to me?
- The University of Cincinnati's Student Code of Conduct applies to UC students, regardless of location.
- Housing's Rules and Regulations will not apply to you.
Please refer to communications sent to you from The Verge about how to do this.
You also have the option to live in University Housing. For information about the application process, visit our Upperclass Housing page.
You may wish to utilize available university resources, such as our Rentals & Leasing page and the Commuter Students page.
Because The Verge and University Housing use different contracts, students cannot be assigned together across the two housing options.
University Housing and The Verge operate under separate agreements, guidelines and support structures. Because of these variations, we’re unable to place students from each housing option together in the same assignment.
I don't already have a contract to live at The Verge for 2026-27
- University Housing's programming & support is fully available to students on a UC Housing contract.
- This includes access to programming, Resident Advisors and professional live-in staff, and help with any challenges you might encounter such as with roommates, maintenance and more.
- For more information about the University Housing program, visit our Daily Living pages.
- Billing for students living at The Verge through University Housing will pay on a per-semester basis, unlike the monthly structure of the direct lease.
- Payments to University Housing will be part of your student bill and allow students to use financial aid and other awards when paying.

Beds at The Verge contracted through the University Housing program will be made available to students through the Upperclass Housing process. Please note, we are unable to offer priority to current residents of The Verge over other UC upperclass housing applicants.
Students who apply for upperclass housing may select The Verge from the available communities as space allows.
To get started, visit University Housing's housing portal and join the waitlist.
Note: Students who currently reside at The Verge who have not yet renewed and are interested should contact The Verge directly to see what options are still available. The Verge team can be emailed at VergeCincinnati@corespaces.com.
UC Housing is supportive of the co-op program and offers unmatched flexibility in our contracts. Our contracts are just for the academic year, so there’s no need to pay for summer housing you don’t need! We also offer contract releases for students who go on co-ops during the academic year, so there’s no need to worry about finding a sublet!
