Dr. Liran Oren is leading a research team at the University of Cincinnati developing a VortexPAP machine that takes advantage of vortex airflow technology. A preliminary clinical study with current CPAP users demonstrated that the VortexPAP can deliver the pressure levels that are used in the subjects’ CPAP therapy, but the mask is more comfortable to wear. It has a minimalistic design that is less intrusive and barely touches the patient’s face.

Veterinarians at the Cincinnati Zoo enlisted the expertise of top surgeons from Cincinnati Children’s and anesthesiologists from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine to perform a surgery on Gladys the gorilla to repair a broken humerus.

The University of Cincinnati has partnered with Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) to broaden access to higher education for CPS students by creating the College Innovation Pathway. It allows high school students to earn credits for an associate degree while completing their high school diploma. Launch UC is helping move this initiative forward.

Local 12: Nature still healing after Tristate storm that killed 4

Local 12 and other news media highlighted a long-term study by the University of Cincinnati examining the recovery of a forest damaged by a deadly tornado 25 years ago. The study found that the storm provided an opportunity for some nonnative, invasive species.
