UC and Metro Extend Ridership Agreement Through 2017

UC and Metro have signed a three-year extension to the UC*Metro Program Agreement.

The program is now extended through academic years 2015, 2016 and 2017. Metro has also opened its new Uptown Transit District to better connect students.

Registration for fall semester 2014 UC*Metro bus cards is now open.

The cards will be valid from Aug. 25 through Jan. 11, 2015.

Prices will continue to hold steady for members of the UC community who join the UC*Metro Program. UC*Metro Fare Card registration costs for fall semester will remain the same as in fall 2013. Student registration is $53 per semester and employee registration is $160 per semester.

Students enjoy the option of paying their UC*Metro Fare Card registration charge or replacement fee on their UC student bill or on their credit card.

There is also no change in the EZ Ride Fare Card for fall semester 2014. The card will continue to be free to obtain for eligible students and employees. EZ Ride Fare Card holders will pay a $1.00 cash drop for all travel and no zone fees apply. EZ Ride Fare Card Holders can also purchase a $.50 transfer as needed.

Spring semester will carry the same terms as fall semester 2014.

Metro’s new Uptown Transit District – designed to better connect students – has now opened boarding areas in four locations:

  • Clifton Heights Business District (four shelters)
  • Vine and Calhoun (two shelters)
  • UC at Jefferson Ave. (three shelters)
  • Medical Centers (UC Medical Center and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center: four shelters)

Enhanced transit shelters include streetscaping and wayfinding with real-time information at some shelter locations and ticket vending machines in some locations.
