Law School hosts transnational attorney to discuss the Latin American business and legal system
The University of Cincinnati College of Law LLM program is hosting speaker Francisco Victoria-Andreu, a transnational attorney, arbitrator, and international consultant, at a working lunch at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, at the offices of the U.S. Commercial Services in Downtown Cincinnati. CLE will be available for attorneys: 1.5 hours (OH; pending in KY).
Victoria-Andreu will discuss “Doing Business in Latin America: Legal and Practical Considerations.” Topics of the session include a review of Latin American business and legal systems, his perspective on local partner versus incorporation and registration in-country, a review of advantages and risks in the Latin American legal system, and more.
In addition, College of Law LLM attorney-students Renata Xavier (Brazil), Rodrigo Horna (Peru) and Andres Marino (Venezuela) will discuss their experiences in the legal system of their home countries as applied to business. The College of Law LLM program offers a Master’s in law for students who have already received a law degree from outside of the U.S.
Meet the Lecturer
Victoria-Andreu is a founding partner of Transnational Business Consulting and has more than 20 years of industry experience. He received his JD from the University of the Americas Puebla (Fundación Universidad de las Américas Puebla) and has represented companies, states, and state-owned entities handling complex international disputes, with emphasis on international contracts, infrastructure, and commercial matters. A native of Mexico, he shares his work and residence among Paris, Cincinnati, Mexico City, and La Habana, Cuba. Additionally, Victoria-Andreu speaks three languages.
