UC Clermont receives $500,000 for student impact

An anonymous donor has given $500,000 to UC Clermont College in the largest cash gift ever made to the Batavia institution.

The donation is intended to directly impact students and will establish the Sophia Fund for Innovation, which will be used by the college to enhance faculty-driven research, including providing grant-writing stipends and funding to enrich the overall student experience. For example, one of the key initiatives supported by the fund will be the UC Clermont Food Pantry, which provides food and personal hygiene items to college students in need.

“UC Clermont is incredibly grateful for this generous, historic gift to the college,” said Dean Jeff Bauer. “The funds will go directly toward helping our students succeed by meeting their needs and improving their experience on campus — goals that align perfectly with our longstanding student-first focus.”
