The annual literary magazine produced by the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is now available in a digital format.
The Blue Ash Review (BAR) was created in 1968, one year after the college was founded, to highlight compelling art and writing by students, faculty, staff, community members and visiting artists. The 2018-19 academic year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Blue Ash Review, and it’s the perfect time to extend the BAR’s publication to the digital world.
The online site curates some of the best media, art, literature and poetry created by members of the UC Blue Ash community. You can enjoy the winning entries from the 2017-18 UC Blue Ash Poetry & Song Writing Contest, dare to explore tales from our Scary Stories Contest, and admire the art and videos created by our talented students, as well as other contributors.
“Vehicles of expression may change, but good art does not; we aim to create an experience with every issue that leaves you thinking and feeling and maybe even a little awed,” writes Claudia Skutar, professor of English at UC Blue Ash and editor of BAR Online.
Similar to the print publication, the BAR Online celebrates the arts in a variety of mediums; expanding from visual and written forms to include spoken and multi-media modes. Members of the Electronic Media and English/Communication departments at the college manage the site. Key contributors include Professor Skutar, along with professors Rhonda Pettit and H. Michael Sanders.
