Pharmacy's Epplen Named Distinguished NAP Fellow
Associate Professor Kelly Epplen, PharmD, BCACP, FASHP, has been named a distinguished fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) in Pharmacy. Epplen will be inducted at a formal ceremony at the NAP forum in Pentagon City, VA, March 2019.
A distinguished practitioner, scholar or policy fellow within NAP is a very high honor that acknowledges outstanding achievements in the pharmacy profession.
A UC alumnae, Epplen graduated with her BS in pharmacy in 1995 and doctor of pharmacy degree in 1997. She was instrumental in establishing ambulatory care pharmacy services in the Greater Cincinnati area. She joined the faculty here in 2009 and continued to provide direct patient care as a board-certified ambulatory care specialist at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Northern Kentucky. An active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Epplen has held many leadership roles including chair of the section of ambulatory care practitioners and served as an advisory board member for the APhA/ASHP BCACP Review and Recertification Course. Within the college, she is course director for the Health System Pharmacy Practice course and teaches in the therapeutics sequence.
She transitioned into the new role as associate dean of student affairs of the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy on Jan. 1, 2019.
Epplen has a long-standing history of service to the college and to the profession of pharmacy.
