UC Law panel to highlight decision tree analysis, case assessment

The University of Cincinnati College of Law will mark the publication of “Risk & Rigor: A Risk & Rigor: A Lawyer’s Guide to Decision Tree Analysis for Assessing Cases and Advising Clients,” with a panel discussion addressing the role and value of decision tree analysis on legal practice, at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, at the Graydon Head Ritchey (312 Walnut Street, Ste. 1800, Cincinnati, OH 45202).
"Risk & Rigor" is the latest book of Professor Marjorie Aaron, director of the Center for Practice at the law school.
About the program
The discussion will focus on how rigorous case assessment is an essential component of competent lawyering, how decision tree analysis can improve client understanding of legal issues and choices in litigation, and how the method can assist attorneys’ legal analysis, negotiating strategies, and settlement recommendations.

About Professor Marjorie Corman Aaron
Professor Aaron is director of the Center for Practice. She teaches courses in negotiation, client counseling, alternative dispute resolution, mediation, and decision analysis.
She recently developed the website - clientsciencecourse.com – dedicated to delivering client counseling courses in law schools. As director of the Center, Aaron oversees UC Law’s trial practice program and coaches student teams participating in negotiation and dispute resolution competitions.
An active mediator, arbitrator, and trainer in negotiation and dispute resolution, she is a mediator panelist, sustaining academic member of the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution, and serves on CPR's ADR Training Faculty. She has mediated and arbitrated disputes involving general commercial contracts, employment, age and gender discrimination, business torts, products liability, personal injury, complex construction and design claims, corporate partnership, environmental claims and allocation issues, real estate and business valuation, real estate trusts, and medical, legal and other professional malpractice.
Aaron also has designed and taught numerous workshops on mediation, negotiation, decision tree analysis, client counseling, and professional communication for law firms, corporations, universities, and governmental organizations.
She is the author of "Client Science: Advice for Lawyers on Counseling Clients through Bad News and Other Legal Realities" (Oxford University Press, 2012) as well as numerous articles, book chapters, cases, dvds, and guides in the field of negotiation, mediation and other forms of dispute resolution. Aaron also is an arbitrator for the national panel of the American Arbitration Association and the CPR Institute of Dispute Resolution. She previously served on the Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management, the Ethics Commission of the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution, and the Publications Committee of the ABA Section on Dispute Resolution.
Aaron began her practice as a litigator at the Boston firm of Goodwin Procter and then an assistant district attorney in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Princeton University.
