Registration open to Be Mindful, Move Often, Nourish & Grow

Be Well UC presents the 2nd annual Live Happy Be Well event on Wednesday, May 22, 2019

All are welcome to Live Happy, Be Well. Eligible employees earn up to 40 points while learning how to meditate, practice drumming, join a walking tour and more. Space is limited for this jam packed schedule with programming for UC by our very own faculty and staff.

Research shows that when we give back to ourselves, we are more able to help others, be creative and with a better mood. Join us 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, at the CARE/Crawley building (medical campus) where Be Well UC has planned a full program of sessions designed to stretch your body and your mind, with the intention of helping you live your best life.

The quarterly event is an opportunity to connect with colleagues while participating in experiential sessions and activities. Three rooms will be set up for 30 minute sessions: Be Mindful, Move Often and Nourish & Grow. Pre-registration is highly recommended via HR EDGE, though walk-ins will be accommodated as room permits.

Sessions are mostly led by UC faculty and staff with a variety of backgrounds and expertise.

  • Mindful Meditation Experience with Dr. Jill Gomez, UC Clermont faculty
  • Fostering Well-Being and Belonging Through Employee Resource Groups and Inclusive Programming with Dr. Dy’an Marinos, Office of Equity and Inclusion
  • Powerful Messages from the Past and Present with Lisa Trump, University Health Services
  • Movement at Work with Carole Donnellon and Tricia Yee, Wellness Ambassadors
  • Foam Rolling for Mobility with Dr. Balza, Airrosti
  • Sustainability at UC & at Home with Daniel Hart, UC Sustainability
  • Deskercize! With Joe Schillero and Krista Bonikowske, Campus Recreation
  • Mindfulness and the Imperative for Self-Care with Dr. Sian Cotton, Center for Integrative Wellness

While sessions are being conducted, additional event programming will include:

  • The first 150 to join us and register will receive a special gift that grows.
  • Walking tours led by PD&C where you’ll hear a bit about the architecture on the medical campus.
  • Visit the Winkler Library to learn about the history of the medical school and the discoveries here.
  • Practice drumming on the front stairs.
  • 10-15 minute movement screenings with Airrosti.
  • Bearcats Pantry collection will occur at registration.
  • Check out the Bicentennial Virtual Reality Booth.
  • Anthem representatives will be here to help you set up your Engage program so you can maximize your healthcare dollars.
  • Free access to the CARE/CRAWLEY Rec Center. Just bring a photo ID and you’ll sign a waiver.
  • Mammograms provided by UC Health in the mobile diagnostics unit (10 a.m.-2 p.m.).
