Local media highlight UC's Bicentennial and Homecoming
Nov. 9 marked UC's 200th anniversary and Homecoming parade, game and events
Saturday, Nov. 9, marked 200 years to the day that the first classes were held at the University of Cincinnati. This past weekend, UC concluded a yearlong Bicentennial celebration, coinciding with Homecoming. Thousands joined in the festivities of the Bicentennial Bash, Homecoming Parade and football game and other events around campus — and local media were on hand to capture the excitement.

Gold medal-winning Olympic runner, former teacher, author and motivational speaker Mary Wineberg was born in Brooklyn, came to Cincinnati at a young age, and was educated in the Cincinnati Public School system. She discovered running in high school and went to college at UC on an athletic scholarship, and after college she began the rigorous work of training for the Olympics — a feat she attained in 2008, when she earned a gold medal running in the first leg for the U.S. Women's 4 × 400m relay.
