Spread the luck around with a blood donation
Special St. Patrick’s Day promotion at Hoxworth
Blood donors are more valuable than a pot of gold, according to Hoxworth Blood Center—and to prove it, all donors will get a special gift leading up to St. Patrick’s Day.
Donors at Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Centers and community blood drives will receive a limited-edition “For Luck’s Sake” t-shirt starting on Sunday, March 8 through Tuesday, March 17.
“We already feel immeasurably lucky to have so many donors who make a point to give blood or platelets regularly,” said Alecia Lipton, spokesperson for Hoxworth Blood Center. “Volunteer blood donors are the only reason we are able to carry out our mission of saving lives here in the tristate. As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, we ask eligible individuals to spread the luck around and make a lifesaving donation in exchange for a special T-shirt.”
To meet the demand of local hospitals and have enough blood on the shelf for emergency situations, Hoxworth has to collect a minimum of 400 units of blood every day, as well as 40 units of platelets.
Lipton noted that since there is no artificial substitute for blood, volunteer donors are always needed.
Due to the anticipated popularity of this giveaway, appointments are encouraged. To schedule a donation, donors can visit www.hoxworth.org or call (513) 451-0910.
