#GivingTuesdayNow: Strength in Unity on May 5

The University of Cincinnati and UC Health will participate in #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of unity on May 5, 2020 in response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

“It gives me great pride to see the UC family rally behind UC and UC Health like never before,” said UC Foundation President Peter E. Landgren. “We have given new meaning to the English translation of our motto, Strength in Unity, showing the world that while we are physically distanced, we are very much together.”

COVID-19 continues affecting all Bearcats, including current students and UC Health frontline clinicians. Gifts on #GivingTuesdayNow will fund scholarships to help offset students’ financial hardships and support UC Health’s immediate needs to fight the pandemic, including personal protective equipment (PPE).

There are four ways to help UC and UC Health on #GivingTuesdayNow:

  1. Print the #GivingTuesdayNow postcard and share your picture with the card using #BearcatsGive. Each submission earns $5 to support scholarships for UC students (up to $1,000).
  2. Sign up to be an ambassador.
  3. Make a gift to the fund of your choice.
  4. Share the giving page with your personal network to help us spread the word.

How Your Gift Can Go Further:

  • Double the Impact. Your gift will be doubled, thanks to generous match donations of $150,000.
  • Ambassadors for UC’s #GivingTuesdayNow have a chance to earn additional money for the fund of their choice by recruiting their friends and family to give. The top three ambassadors who recruit the most gifts will earn $1,000, $500 and $250 respectively.
  • Challenges allow groups and funds to earn more money, such as:
    • Thy Loyal Children Challenge rewards the fund with the most gifts by 10 a.m. EDT.
    • When the clock strikes 11 a.m., the Tower of Strength Leader Board award is up for grabs to the fund with the most gifts between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. EDT.
    • The Down the Drive Challenge offers another chance for the top fund to collect a bonus for the most gifts between 5 and 8 p.m. EDT.
    • The Leaderboard Challenge is back with prizes to the top three funds in the category of highest number of gifts collected. Prizes will be awards to each college’s designated scholarship fund; $1,500, $750 and $500 respectively.
