Times of India: Everything you need to know about skin pH
UC’s KP Ananth, director of cosmetic sciences program, addresses skin pH and the myths
Professor KP Ananth, director of the cosmetic science programs at UC’s James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, is cited as a leading expert in a Times of India article on skin pH and the myths surrounding the same.
The skin pH isn't a fixed number and it gets affected both by external and internal factors. Internal factors like ethnicity, age or medical conditions can affect your pH. External factors like climate, even day and night can also affect the skin's pH.
In the article, Ananth specified that pH is not the way to measure if a product is mild or not. If you use the wrong ingredients or surfactants at a lower pH, it can damage your skin more than at a neutral or higher pH.
