WVXU: Workplace interruptions can be annoying, but there Is an upside
UC-led study found that office distractions create a sense of belonging
Workplace interruptions — both professional and personal — have historically been thought of as barriers to productivity. However, a new study that originated at the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business found the converse: That these interruptions create a sense of belonging and negate any impact on job satisfaction.
The study’s lead author, Harshad Puranik, PhD, earned his doctoral degree in UC’s managerial studies program in the Lindner College of Business and is now an assistant professor at the University of Illinois. Two former UC faculty co-authored the study.
