UC political scientist Davin Niven speaks to calls for impeachment by GOP
Controversy over the redistricting of state and congressional maps continues, with a GOP call for the impeachment of Maureen O'Connor, the Republican chief justice of the Ohio Supreme Court.
O’Connor and three Democrat justices ruled against the maps, riling the GOP.
"In Ohio, Republican politics there seems to be this belief that everyone should mindlessly follow the political party,'' said David Niven, a professor at the University of Cincinnati's School of Public and International Affairs. Niven has been a vocal critic of the Republicans majority on the Ohio Redistricting Commission.
Impeachment seems unlikely, given that O’Connor is retiring in 8 months. ,
