Hoxworth Blood Center kicking off fall semester with UC all-campus blood drive
Donors get a Bearcat jacket
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is calling on the Bearcat community to start the new school year by donating blood or platelets.
Students, faculty, staff and fans of UC are encouraged to donate during the UC All Campus blood drive, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 20 through Friday, Sept. 23. All donors will receive a limited-edition Bearcats pack jacket.
The UC main campus drive will be held in TUC Great Hall on Sept. 20 and 21, and on Hoxworth donor buses on Sept. 22 and 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Additional blood drives will be held at UC Clermont on Tuesday, Sept. 20, UC Blue Ash on Wednesday, Sept. 21, and the UC Medical Campus on Friday, Sept. 23.
“We know that our Bearcat community has been so excited to back on campus, and we can’t wait to see some familiar faces and welcome new students during our first UC blood drive of the year,” said Jackie Marschall, Hoxworth spokesperson. “Our UC community has always done an amazing job of answering our call to roll up a sleeve to save lives.”
Marschall added that as the only provider of blood products in the Tristate, Hoxworth needs to collect 400 units of blood and 50 units of platelets daily to fulfill the needs of local hospitals.
Additionally, Hoxworth Blood Center has launched a new screening and registration tool called ABO QuickPass on September 16. The new tool can be found on the Hoxworth.org website and will allow donors to answer history and screening questions online prior to a scheduled blood donation to expedite the process.
Appointments are highly encouraged, and masks are required of all donors. Donors must bring an ID with birthdate.
