Unlock your career potential at Kroger Day: A premier networking event

Mark your calendar for an opportunity to shape your professional future Sept. 12

Are you a student or recent graduate eager to jumpstart your career? Mark your calendar for Kroger Day at the University of Cincinnati.

The event is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12. There will be multiple on-campus locations, including Lindner Hall, UC Main Street, DAAP Cafe and more. Visit Kroger Career Day for a full list of locations.

Kroger Day is so much more than a recruiting event, it’s a chance to connect with one of the leading companies in the retail industry. This is your opportunity to meet with Kroger’s top recruiters, and industry professionals (many are UC alums), explore diverse career paths, and gain invaluable insights into the company’s dynamic work culture. Recruiters from Kroger’s affiliated retail data science company, 84.51°, will also be there.

With nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states operating under two dozen banners, Kroger is one of the world’s biggest retailers, and one of the largest employers. Hundreds of University of Cincinnati students began their careers at Kroger through UC co-op, and many graduates continue to work there today.

“My time at the University of Cincinnati as a student was incredibly important to the success I’ve had in my professional career with The Kroger Co.,” said Jack Ballman, Communications, UC College of Arts and Sciences ’09. “My job in Human Resources requires the ability to build relationships and trust with business partners by communicating effectively and candidly with them to accomplish key business strategies across the United States. I learned these skills at the University of Cincinnati in my classes in Interpersonal Communication, Public/Persuasive Speaking, and Communication Theory.

“Dr. Evan Griffin and Dr. MJ Woeste were a few of the many standout professors that I learned so much from and who inspired me to be the best interpersonal communicator I can be. I have taken the communication skills I learned in their classrooms and use them when successfully leading in depth compensation training for Kroger business partners both in person and virtually for large audiences.

“Recently I earned my first Kroger HR Star Award, a prestigious honor among myself and my colleagues that recognizes high performing human resources associates across the Kroger enterprise for hard work and dedication to our customers. A large part of why I earned this award can be tied to the foundational skills I learned as a UC student, most importantly using interpersonal communication strategies to build lasting relationships with peers and business partners to accomplish business goals. Go Bearcats!”
